A migrant boat capsized in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Libya, according to a recent report. The United Nations migration agency stated that 53 people are dead or missing following the accident, with only two Nigerian women rescued.

The agency reports that the boat departed from Libya on February 5 and overturned about six hours into the journey. Officials blamed human trafficking networks for exploiting migrants on this dangerous route. In response, the agency called for better international cooperation and the creation of safer ways for people to travel.
