UK pressed to review carbon fiber machine exports to Russian-linked Armenian firm
February 9, 2026

British officials are under pressure to rethink an export license that allowed a UK company, Cygnet Texkimp, to ship carbon fiber machinery to an Armenian firm linked to the Russian military. The recipient, Rydena LLC, was started by former executives from Umatex, a sanctioned Russian carbon fiber manufacturer that plays a key role in Russia’s defense industry. Experts are warning that these machines could easily be moved into Russia, raising serious doubts about how well UK export controls and background checks actually work.
