Eight current and former Toronto police officers have been arrested following a major investigation into organized crime. According to police, the officers took bribes, helped drug traffickers, and leaked private information to criminals. They are also accused of playing a role in a plot to kill a corrections officer.

The investigation, known as Project South, was launched after an attempted murder of a corrections officer in June 2025. Several civilians face charges as well. Police officials stated that the inquiry has revealed how deeply the "corrosive" influence of organized crime has reached into the police department.
