Revision records show that the charity stripped warnings about social media addiction and mindless scrolling from speeches given by Lewis Swire and Saamya Ghai.

The deleted sections described children who felt powerless to stop using TikTok and Snapchat, and argued that social media is fueling a widespread loneliness crisis. While Childnet's chief executive denied that the changes were made to please the charity’s financial backers, claiming the edits were only for length and tone, the teenagers said they felt betrayed and silenced.
