Study finds Soup Head Tom Yum soup exceeds daily salt limit
February 6, 2026

Nearly a quarter of the soups sold in UK supermarkets contain excessive levels of salt, according to a study by the group Action on Salt and Sugar. Their analysis of almost 500 products revealed that 23% went over the government's voluntary salt limits. The saltiest product found was Soup Head's Tom Yum soup, which contains 3.03g per pack. This single serving accounts for more than half of the recommended daily salt limit for an adult. The group's head of impact and research stated that because companies are ignoring these targets, the government must step in and take action.
