Starbucks Workers United strikers urge customers to delete the app in a show of solidarity

Starbucks baristas are calling on customers to delete the mobile app as a show of support while they fight for their first union contract. Organized under Starbucks Workers United, the employees began a strike over unfair labor practices on November 13 last year. The union is demanding better pay, consistent work schedules, and an end to anti-union tactics.
Roughly 1,000 baristas at nearly 50 locations are currently on strike. The union now represents about 11,000 employees across 576 stores, following success in more than 600 union elections since December 2021.
Starbucks has minimized the impact of the protests, stating that less than 1% of its locations were affected. The company noted that more than half of those stores either stayed open or have already reopened. A Starbucks spokesperson added that the union has since called for an unconditional return to work and highlighted that the two sides have reached more than 30 tentative agreements.
