Police and protesters clash over march route for Herzog visit

A standoff has developed over where a protest should take place during Israeli President Isaac Herzog's visit to Sydney. The Palestine Action Group intends to march from Sydney Town Hall to the state parliament. This plan, however, goes against a police order that bans marches in that specific area.
Police are pushing the group to take a different route through Hyde Park. Meanwhile, the organizers are preparing to fight the state government in court. They are challenging the Premier’s use of special powers, which are emergency legal authorities that allow the government to restrict public movement. While the Premier maintains these powers are necessary for public safety, the protest group argues they effectively turn political expression into a crime.
