Faber-Castell, the world's leading pencil manufacturer, has accused the government of Costa Rica of violating the terms of a donated factory. The company states that its 2018 contract required the site to be used as a humanitarian shelter for migrants rather than a detention center. However, for at least two months in 2025, the facility was used to hold 200 people deported from the U.S., including children.
