Nigeria is sending an army battalion to the Kaiama district in Kwara state after a brutal raid left scores dead. On Tuesday night, suspected jihadist fighters killed 170 people during attacks on the villages of Woro and Nuku. President Bola Tinubu's office condemned the killings and announced that the battalion will lead Operation Savannah Shield to fight back against the militants. This attack is part of a larger wave of violence across Nigeria carried out by jihadists and other armed groups, including factions linked to Islamic State.
