NatWest has agreed to buy the wealth management firm Evelyn Partners for £2.7 billion. This purchase marks the bank's biggest acquisition since the government stepped in to rescue it with taxpayer money in 2008. Through this deal, NatWest will take on roughly 2,400 new employees and a business that manages about £69 billion in client investments. NatWest's chief executive said the move offers a rare chance to grow the bank's financial planning and investment departments.
