Police have arrested a man following the death of a 19-year-old student at the University of Lancashire. Carla Georgescu, a second-year clinical psychology student, was found dead at her housing on Victoria Street in Preston.

Officers are treating her death as suspicious. A 34-year-old man who was known to the victim has been taken into custody. Investigators stated they are not looking for any other suspects at this time.

The university released a statement saying they are providing support to those affected, and that the wellbeing of students and staff remains their top priority.
