The Liberal Democrats are calling on the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to investigate Peter Mandelson for possible insider trading. Daisy Cooper, the party's deputy leader and an MP, wrote to the regulator to raise concerns. She argued that Mandelson’s habit of sharing secret government information with Jeffrey Epstein could have given Epstein an unfair financial edge.

The request comes after emails surfaced that seem to show Mandelson gave Epstein early warnings about events that would shift the markets. These include a eurozone bailout deal and a high-level resignation in May 2010, both shared before they were made public. Scotland Yard has started a criminal investigation into Mandelson because of these claims. He has since stepped down from the Labour party and resigned his seat in the House of Lords.
