Police are investigating a "serious incident" at De Montfort University in Leicester. University officials confirmed they are working closely with Leicestershire Police, following an event on Oxford Street late Tuesday evening.

Authorities have not yet released specific details about what happened. However, police have closed several roads to protect the scene and expect these closures to last for several hours. Officers are urging drivers to stay away from the area.

The closures include Oxford Street, Infirmary Road, Infirmary Square, and several nearby intersections. The University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust warned patients that their travel may be disrupted. The trust advised people to allow for extra time or to call their clinic directly if they are running late for an appointment.
