Israeli forces bulldoze Gaza war cemetery and damage Allied graves

Israeli forces have bulldozed a section of a war cemetery in Gaza City that holds the graves of Allied soldiers from World War I and World War II. Satellite photos and testimony from a former caretaker show systematic destruction, including uprooted headstones and heavy earthmoving work. The affected area contains the remains of British, Australian, and Polish service members.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that the site was an active combat zone. They claimed that operational steps were taken to stop threats, which included destroying underground "terrorist infrastructure" found at the location.
The Commonwealth War Graves Commission confirmed the cemetery has suffered extensive damage. A military historian noted that this desecration is a serious concern for the countries involved, including Australia.
