Immigration Minister Jean-François Roberge has pledged to fast-track immigration applications for healthcare workers through the end of 2026. This announcement addresses concerns from the healthcare sector, which feared losing thousands of foreign employees due to recent policy changes.

The Minister guaranteed that these workers will receive an invitation through the Regular Skilled Worker Program this year. However, he reminded applicants that they must first submit an expression of interest on Arrima, the province’s online immigration portal. He also acknowledged that while Quebec selects candidates, work permits are issued by the federal government. Roberge noted that he is currently in talks with officials in Ottawa to ensure these permits are renewed.
