Illinois Governor JB Pritzker has announced that the state will join the World Health Organization’s Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network, known as GOARN. This move comes after Donald Trump shared plans to withdraw the United States from the WHO in 2025.

Pritzker explained that by joining the network, Illinois ensures its public health officials stay connected to global alerts, expert advice, and international partnerships. By taking this step, the state aims to maintain a direct line to critical health data and resources even if federal ties to the global organization are cut.
