Rogelio "Butch" Bagabuyo, a former lawyer from British Columbia, has been found guilty of first-degree murder in the death of his client, Mohd Abdullah, in Kamloops. Justice Kathleen Kerr delivered the verdict after summarizing the trial, labeling Bagabuyo a "fraudster" and stating that the evidence proved the killing was both deliberate and planned.

Prosecutors argued that the two men had worked together to hide more than $780,000. During the trial, the Crown presented several key pieces of evidence:

• Security footage showing Bagabuyo buying a plastic bin identical to the one where Abdullah’s body was discovered.
• Records of Bagabuyo purchasing a propane tank and a hacksaw.
• Intentional gaps in security camera recordings.
• The victim’s multiple stab wounds.
• Plastic wrapping used on the body that matched rolls found in Bagabuyo’s law office.
