China's highest court has overturned the death sentence for Robert Lloyd Schellenberg, a Canadian citizen. A Canadian official confirmed the news on Friday, viewing the move as a potential sign of improving diplomatic relations. Schellenberg was first detained on drug-trafficking charges in 2014 and later received the death penalty during a 2019 retrial. According to his lawyer, Schellenberg will now go through another trial in a different court, though no date has been scheduled yet.
