Australia's eSafety Commissioner lashes out at Elon Musk's AI chatbot following police raids on X headquarters in France

Australia's eSafety Commissioner reports that public outcry against Elon Musk's AI chatbot has hit a "tipping point." This follows a police raid on the X offices in France as part of a criminal investigation. Authorities are looking into several alleged crimes, including the spread of sexualized deepfakes - realistic but fake images created by artificial intelligence.
The European Union and several other countries are now investigating X. These probes began after users used Grok, the platform's built-in chatbot, to create large numbers of sexually explicit images. X responded by blocking the image-generation tool for users who do not pay for a subscription and promised to update its systems.
In a separate update, the eSafety Commissioner released a report reviewing how major tech companies are fighting the spread of child sexual abuse material.
