Michael Berkman, a member of parliament for the Greens, and the head of Transparency International Australia both criticized the move, claiming the groups exploited a legal loophole. A spokesperson for the LNP and a representative for the company both stated that they followed all legal reporting requirements. The report also noted a separate 2025 deal between the LNP and the company to drop a lawsuit regarding late royalty payments.
